Recently, we had the pleasure of sitting down with author, entrepreneur and retired respiratory therapist Latta Jones to talk about why taking care of your health is so important, especially for college students!
Latta Jones is the author of two books, Condemnation and The Phenomenal Church, and founder of Condom Nation.
During the interview (below), Jones talked about his upbringing in New York City, where he and his peers faced a lot of challenges that have inspired him to push for HIV prevention and safer health practices.
Jones’ mission is deeply personal. After losing a close friend to AIDS, he dedicated himself to spreading awareness about the importance of protection and responsible choices. His message is clear: “Save yourself, save others.” If you find yourself making tough health decisions, Jones suggested considering "the pros and cons. Be prepared. Don’t be reckless. You’re here to learn and grow in all areas of life.”
In this conversation, we also discussed our wellness-to-go machines, which provide 24/7 access to emergency contraceptives and other reproductive health supplies. Jones loved this initiative for college campuses, explaining why we need them: “We forget. Sometimes we keep contraceptive items that have expired, and then the stores are closed and we have no other option.”
The idea is simple: make sure students have access to what they need when they need it, even if it’s late at night or stores are closed. We shouldn’t have to wait for the right moment to take care of our health — it should always be a priority, no matter who or where you are!

With our wellness vending initiative, college students can find @planbonestep, @ky_brand, @trojanbrandcondoms, @julie and more brands right on campus!
Both of Jones' books, Condemnation and The Phenomenal Church, are available on Amazon. Similar to our conversation, Condemnation delivers a powerful message, "There's no condemnation when you wear a condom."

With advocates like Latta Jones, we’re excited to keep pushing to make reproductive health conversations normal, and make resources easier to get, no matter the time of day.
We hope to see you soon on your college campus!
